This is hands down the most useful thing ever. It is a little automation that uses a shortcut action to turn on/off the orientation lock.

There’s 2 automations needed, one that triggers when ‘Opening an app’ and another that triggers when ‘Closing an app’. The list of apps should be the same on both automations. Usually would be video apps or any app that landscape mode is actually useful.

The only action on each automation is “Set Orientation lock”, set to ON when closing the app, and OFF when opening the app.

Important: Switch off ‘Notify When Run’ or this will be the most annoying thing on your phone.
